Services and coverage

Restaurant insurance coverage, structured for real-world operations.

Our practice helps restaurant operators place the coverage that matches their actual exposure, then manages the program as a coordinated whole. Below is the coverage we help operators place, followed by the in-house services that surround the placement.

Coverage 01

Liquor liability

The defining exposure for any operator that serves alcohol.

If your restaurant serves beer, wine, or spirits, liquor liability is one of the most consequential coverages on your program. It responds to claims arising from the service of alcohol, including alleged over-service and the harm that can follow. For multi-location operators and groups, the way liquor coverage is structured across entities and locations directly affects how a claim unfolds.

Our practice treats liquor liability as a first-class line of coverage, not an endorsement to think about later. We work through your service practices, your training posture, and the contract requirements you carry from landlords, lenders, and partners. Then we build the placement around that reality, with the structure and limits that match your operation.

Coverage 02

Excess and umbrella liability

Layered limits that sit above your primary liability program.

A single severe claim can move past a primary limit quickly. Excess and umbrella liability provides additional capacity above general liability, liquor liability, employer's liability, and auto, depending on how the program is built. For multi-location operators, contract counterparties often require specific limits before you can sign a lease, vendor agreement, or financing document.

We structure excess and umbrella coverage with your real-world contract requirements in mind, and we coordinate it with the rest of the program so the layers respond the way you expect them to.

Coverage 03

Business personal property

The equipment, fixtures, and contents that make the restaurant run.

Hood systems, walk-ins, ranges, smallwares, POS hardware, furniture, and decor add up quickly. Business personal property coverage is what restores those assets after a covered loss. The valuation method, the limits, and the way newly acquired property is handled across locations all matter.

Our team reviews how your business personal property is scheduled and valued so the program actually reflects what is in your kitchens and dining rooms today, not what was there at the last renewal.

Coverage 04

Employment practices liability

The coverage that responds to claims from employees and applicants.

Restaurants run on people, and people-related exposure is real. Employment practices liability insurance responds to allegations such as wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. It is one of the coverages most often missing or under-limited on programs built for smaller operations.

We look at headcount, jurisdictional exposure, and the operational realities of running a multi-location restaurant business so the placement reflects the actual risk profile.

Coverage 05

Workers' compensation

Statutory coverage for on-the-job injuries.

Workers' compensation is statutory and unavoidable, but the way it is placed and managed is anything but uniform. Class codes, experience modification, multi-state payroll, return-to-work programs, and claims posture all influence cost and renewal outcomes over time.

Our team treats workers' compensation as a line to manage actively. We coordinate placement with loss control and claims advocacy so the program does more than satisfy the statute.

Coverage 06

General liability

The base layer that responds to third-party bodily injury and property damage.

General liability is the foundation of a restaurant's liability program: slip and fall, foodborne illness allegations, on-premises incidents, and a wide range of third-party claims. The way it is written, the endorsements that attach to it, and the way it coordinates with liquor liability and excess matter at claim time.

We build general liability into the program with the rest of the structure in mind, not as a standalone checkbox.

Coverage 07

Property

Buildings, improvements and betterments, and business income.

Whether you own the buildings or lease the space, property coverage protects the physical footprint of the operation, often including tenant improvements and the business income that supports payroll and obligations when a location is interrupted. Valuation, deductibles, and coinsurance terms all shape the outcome of a loss.

Our practice reviews property schedules with current replacement realities in mind, including the cost to rebuild kitchens and dining rooms in today's environment.

How we work

In-house services that surround the program.

Coverage is the deliverable. The work happens around it, all year long, across the practice.

01

Full-service account management

A dedicated team that knows your operation, your contracts, and your renewal calendar. We stay close throughout the year, not just at renewal.

02

Loss control and risk management

Proactive guidance on the practices that drive claims, from kitchen and floor safety to liquor service and employment practices. Fewer claims, better renewals, healthier operations.

03

Insurance placement and program management

We design the structure of the program, take it to market with broad carrier access, and manage it as a coordinated whole rather than a stack of separate policies.

04

Claims management and advocacy

When a claim happens, we stay engaged. Our team coordinates with the carrier and advocates for the operator throughout the process.

Coverage area

We place restaurant coverage in all 50 states.

Whether your locations sit in a single state or span the country, our practice is set up to serve operators wherever they grow. As part of Insurance Office of America, one of the largest independent insurance agencies in the United States, we bring broad carrier and market access to every placement.
